Herbal Walk - a Pharmacy at your Fingertips
Join us on a fascinating walk into the interior of the island and discover Lefkas' impressive mountainous landscape and abundant flora.
Brigitte Roth-Kokotsis, with over twenty years phytotherapy experience, will point out a variety of herbs and plants and discuss their uses for cooking and healing. She illustrates some of her points with some fascinating anecdotes from Greek mythology too. Not to be missed! The herbal walk finishes with an exquisite mouthwatering lunch at a quaint Greek mountainside taverna serving organic food. Afterwards you can visit Brigitte’s drying workshop where she sells her home made tinctures of rescue remedy, St John’s Wort, Calendula cream, natural incense sticks, teas and more.
Nutrition and the Mediterranean Diet
As you probably know, the Greeks are well known for their longevity and in particular their good heart health, largely due to the ingredients in their daily diet. We will give you a simple ‘Health & Vitality’ booklet which includes elements of the Mediterranean diet as well as some simple recipes that you can try when you get back home.
Linda’s Walks - Another View of Lefkas
Linda Ticehurst first came to Lefkas in 1988 and has since bought a small house in Agios Petros, a small mountainside village above Vassiliki where she now lives year round. Linda’s walks take you through deserted villages, past hidden lakes and through the extraordinarily lush countryside just behind Vassiliki. She has a wealth of knowledge about Greece and the Greek people and Lefkas in particular. Her guided walks are a great way to take some light exercise while being thoroughly entertained.
Cycling
We have a range of mountain bikes available. Join us on a easy ride through the orange and olive groves. Even if you’ve not ridden a bike since you were a child the paths and backroads are almost traffic free and you’ll soon find your confidence. If you want a more challenging ride there are countless different routes through the countryside – and if you are looking for something extreme Mount Stavrota, just behind Vassiliki bay, rises to nearly 1200 metres, higher than anything in England and Wales!
